More than 35 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live by declaring that the first Monday in October would be World Habitat Day. On Monday, October 3, 2022, Habitat for Humanity will join our partners around the world to rededicate ourselves to recognizing the basic right of everyone to adequate shelter.
Since 2019, Habitat Tennessee has been proud to join numerous Habitat offices across Tennessee in a pilot program to offer Aging In Place home repairs and accessibility modifications for older homeowners. We want to share with you the story of that program and the ongoing need for this important work. Join us online Wednesday, Oct. 5, as we debut a video that tells the stories of four seniors who partnered with Habitat and how this program impacted their lives. The video presentation will be followed by a panel discussion about the need for this work and how you can help.
